Special films

Polycarbonate panels, Plexiglass and other plastic glazing are a popular alternative to traditional glazing. For effective sun protection on these surfaces, you need special films with an adapted adhesive layer.

Frequently asked questions about Special films

Standard window films are not suitable for fitting sun protection to polycarbonate surfaces. Plastic glazing requires a specially designed sun protection film -- the film for Perspex and acrylic glass.

Our film for plastic surfaces has a special adhesive layer that withstands the typical surface changes of plastics (expansion and contraction). This makes it ideal for application on plastics such as Perspex, acrylic glass, or Makrolon.

Sun protection films for plastic glazing are applied externally and feature -- much like standard sun protection films -- a mirror effect that provides sun protection as well as daytime privacy. From the inside, the films are transparent but tinted. Additionally, these films offer effective heat protection and reduce glare, for example on glass-roofed terraces or in conservatories. The film for Perspex also provides an effective 99% UV protection.

Our film for Perspex is an excellent and cost-effective alternative to replacing polycarbonate panels or plastic glazing -- particularly for retrofitting carport roofs, as well as roller shutters, terrace and balcony canopies, or garden shed windows.

To avoid thermal stress that could cause the glass to crack, the film for plastic surfaces must always be applied to the outside of your plastic glazing. This also delivers maximum heat and sun protection.

ScreenEx is designed for LED and LCD monitors, darkening them from the outside. With other screen types, functionality may be limited, so we recommend using it with compatible devices to ensure the desired level of privacy.

No, ScreenEx only darkens the screen from the outside and has no impact on brightness or image quality for the person sitting in front of the monitor. The view remains clear and unchanged internally, whilst sensitive information is shielded from onlookers.
