This clear shatter protection film with 100µm thickness is applied to the outside of the glazing. The key advantage: installation is possible without entering the building – ideal for hard-to-reach interior surfaces, skylights or properties where the interior should not be disturbed. With 93 % light transmission, the film remains virtually invisible on the glass.
Features at a Glance
- 93 % light transmission – virtually invisible on the glass
- Shatter protection to EN 12600 – holds glass fragments together on impact
- 100µm thickness – reliable protection against pressure, impact and blows
- Exterior installation – no need to enter the building
- Self-adhesive – easy installation without tools or prior experience
- Durable surface – Hard-Coat finish, long-lasting and easy to clean
- Also suitable for skylights and sloped glazing
Exterior Shatter Protection – When Does It Make Sense?
Exterior installation is the right choice when the interior side of the glazing is inaccessible or should not be disturbed. Typical applications include:
- Skylights and sloped glazing – protection against falling fragments from hail or storm damage
- Commercial properties – installation outside business hours without disrupting operations
- Public buildings – retrofitting existing glazing without interior access
- Hard-to-reach windows – when the interior side is blocked by fixtures or furniture
The film provides shatter retention to EN 12600 (DIN 52337), holding broken glass pieces together so they do not fall or scatter.
Suitable Glazing Types
This film is suitable for exterior installation on the following glass types:
- Single glazing
- Tinted single glazing
- Insulating glazing (double glazing)
- Low-E glass
- Tinted low-E glass
- Laminated glass / safety glass
Installation
The film is applied from the outside onto clean, smooth glass. The glass surface must be thoroughly cleaned before installation, as exterior surfaces accumulate more dirt than interior ones. Instructions and an installation kit are included.
Note: For permanent shatter retention, the film should cover the entire glass surface.
Warranty
3-year manufacturer's warranty when applied to horizontal surfaces (e.g. skylights), 5 years when applied to vertical surfaces. The shorter warranty period compared to interior films is due to greater weather exposure on the outside.
Variants
For interior installation, films in various thicknesses are available:
